Category: Criminal
Size: Medium
Condition: Dark, Well Hidden, Deep beneath the city
Inhabitants: The suicidal rich, the desperate poor, and the criminals willing to facilitate them.
Description
There are whispers of a place deep beneath the winding passages and tunnels of Old Seoul, where the criminal or desperate go to change themselves. Using technology still not entirely understood, and abandoned by Open Thought for ethical concerns, this underground facility allows for the absolute duplication and sublimation of consciousness of one individual onto another.
By uploading and copying all information of one person, and then transferring it over to another individual who has had all of their memories scrubbed clean while they are kept alive, consciousness is reestablished onto the new host of the memories.
While this allows a lucky criminal to assume the identity and body of an affluent elite, it isn’t a perfect procedure: the body and mind of the original criminal still exist, and as they aren’t changed at all from the procedure the ‘duplicate’ must be eliminated to prevent any unfortunate incidents. After all, from the point of view of the original the procedure was an expensive failure that resulted in a stranger claiming to be the real them.
